Kickoff Sunday: Serving Opportunities
Stay after worship on Fall Kickoff Sunday, September 8, to participate in one of our serving projects. While you’re there, explore some of our ongoing roles available in Sunday hospitality and worship, as well as helping out with our family ministry programs and events. Projects are designed to be completed in under an hour.
Lutheran World Relief Quilt-making
Often, when natural disasters strike or war drives families from their homes, our hearts ache with compassion but we don’t know how to help. If you’ve wondered how to volunteer to quilt for charity, look no further. Making Lutheran World Relief Mission Quilts is a tangible way to express love to our neighbors in need. Quilts can be used as warm bedding, simple tents or floor coverings. Each one reflects God's loving presence in a world rife with suffering. Our Knitting, Quilting and Crafting group will facilitate this, with tasks available for all ages including children.
Letter Writing Activities
What can we each do to persuade our federal and state legislators to support legislation for the health of our communities? Make your voice known by crafting a letter of support for a policy you believe in. There will be a kid’s activity and resources for adults to reach their legislators to support key policy issues such as those identified in ELCA action alerts as well as local Minnesota legislative concerns. Sample letters of support and links to send online letters to your representatives will make it convenient and easy for you to support an important cause that contributes to better lives for all neighbors. Marge Shaffer and Karen Saboe, our Mental Health Connect Ambassadors, will have information about mental health care issues.
Outdoor Weeding and Clean Up
Join with other members to help us maintain and care for our property with some light work outside. With or without your own work gloves, you can help pull weeds and clean up branches. Check in after worship for recommended areas to focus upon.
Make Cards for Seniors
Bring some light and joy to residents at one of our area senior living centers. Our Family Ministry Team will have resources for children to design a card. We’ll have cards that adults can sign as well.
