February Wellness Focus: Emotional Wellness
Mindfulness: This is defined as a practice of being aware of all the elements in the present moment. Practicing mindfulness helps a person relate to stress and uncertainty with greater skill and ease. It can be practiced through mediation formally, or informally by bringing awareness to even the most mundane tasks like washing the dishes, walking the dog or showering.
To practice mindfulness, for example while washing dishes, focus on the temperature of the water on your skin, the feel of the dishes or the smell of the soap. Everyone possesses mindfulness, but it's more readily available to us when it's practiced on a daily basis. As mindfulness is practiced it will wake up the inner workings of our mental, emotional and physical processes.
