Christmas 2025

Advent 2025

Light for This Moment
Our experience of darkness is profoundly human and spiritual. To kindle a small light in a place of darkness with a lantern or candle warms our spirit. It comes as a gift. Jesus says in Matthew 5 that his followers are now “the light of the world” and to “let your light so shine.” Our own light is kindled by Christ’s love and grace. We are called to be light for this moment. And so, we seek to bring that light and grace into any place where there is despair, loneliness or scarcity because of Christ’s generosity and selflessness for us.

Transformed by Grace
Grace opens up new possibilities and allows us to breathe again and flourish individually and collectively. God’s grace takes many forms in scripture and can be experienced by people of faith in many ways, including through forgiveness, healing, justice and freedom. Grace offers the possibility of a radical transformation of the most impossible situations. Are you open to God’s grace transforming your life and our world?

What is Old is New Again
Sometimes what seems lost to history comes back around. Trends, movements or styles are long gone, until they’re back again. Christians focus most of our attention on the teachings of the New Testament, but during this series we’ll recall some important stories and lessons from the Old Testament that are worth reclaiming as a resource for understanding our human story and the way forward.

The Way
Jesus invited people to learn and follow him. His students (disciples) learned a way of living and seeing life that was often in stark contrast to the alternatives championed by tradition and the powers of their day. It’s a way of life that has endured for 2000 years and remains a gift for us. This way equips us to bring healing and hope to dark places, to step out in courage, to see people as neighbors rather than the “other,” to value people, and teaches us to pray and experience God’s divine presence. It’s a path that brings life. This is the way.

Bold
As we examine stories from the earliest days of the Christian movement after Jesus was resurrected, we see followers of Jesus acting decisively and boldly to share the wisdom and good news about the love and grace of God. That energy they started with flowed from a deep sense of the love and peace that Jesus had shared with them. Is there a deep sense of peace and purpose undergirding your faith? What bold action are you moved to make to share that same faith with others?

The Shape of a Movement
As Jesus started his ministry, he spoke about ideals, but the movement he started was not truly ideological. Jesus came as the embodiment of God to be in real community with other people. In Spirit and wisdom, Jesus continues to welcome us into that same movement to bring grace, peace, healing and abundance for every person in concrete ways that all of us may experience life.

With Heart, Hand & Voice
As Christians, we are Christ’s presence in our relationships, our neighborhoods, and the world. The way we represent the love of Jesus is critical today. In the words of the hymn "To Be Your Presence":
We are your heart, O Christ, your hands and voice,
to serve your people is our call and choice,
and in this mission we, the church, rejoice, alleluia!
This is a concrete expression of our mission. During this series we're exploring what it means for us to be embodiments of God’s loving presence in the world.
We are your heart, O Christ, your hands and voice,
to serve your people is our call and choice,
and in this mission we, the church, rejoice, alleluia!
This is a concrete expression of our mission. During this series we're exploring what it means for us to be embodiments of God’s loving presence in the world.

Real Jesus
What did Jesus actually teach and live for? Throughout history Jesus has become an iconic figure who is sometimes fashioned into the image that individuals or groups prefer. As we kick off the fall, we’ll take a look at the real Jesus. We’ll see unmistakable reflections of his humble service, care for those suffering and the other, commitment to justice, and surprising and perplexing stories that remind us about the ways he still defies expectations. Come and explore the real Jesus.

Change Your World
There’s enough happening in the world (not to mention our own lives) to fill us with worry and frustration. Are you a frustrated idealist, a straight pessimist, or do you embrace hope for something better? Saint Francis de Sales is credited with the encouraging words, “Bloom where you’re planted.” In this series we’ll take on realities that have confronted people from Biblical times up to today. We'll seek to reclaim the hope and joy of faith which have the power to change our own world, and perhaps the world around us.

Free Reign
The Kingdom of God breaks through established patterns and expectations to bring freedom, hope, and healing, spreading the abundant life and grace of Jesus.

Defining Moments
Lent 2024
Each of us should experience the gift of the good life. To seek goodness and life for our neighbor and the world brings additional challenge. In this series we explore some iconic passages in Jesus’ ministry in which both he and his disciples must choose if they will accept the additional responsibility of living and serving for the sake of others. These are defining moments and turning points for Jesus, his disciples and ultimately for all of us.

Hope
Are you hopeful at the start of a new year? What if there were shifts in perspective, and actions you could take today, that would help you go beyond momentary, positive feelings to a life more deeply grounded in hope? We’ll explore the early ministry of Jesus and how he invited a community to gather and support a new vision that brought healing, transformation and renewed hope.

Come Together
All of scripture points to a vision of a world renewed—of an all-encompassing peace that isn't just the absence of conflict but abundant life or "shalom" for all. This vision is rooted deeply in faith and encompasses our entire lives and wellbeing as we live in community with one another. It's a reality that begins now and extends into the life to come, as all of God's children from across the world and across time find love and belonging in God's presence.

Community: A User's Guide
We all benefit from the community around us, both local and beyond. The character of that community isn’t a given but is something we contribute to whether we realize it or not. In the early days of the Christian movement, leaders like Paul wrote to churches in places like Rome and Philippi to provide guidance and encouragement so that their communities reflected the love, grace, generosity, selflessness, purpose, and support that Jesus taught and lived out. We’re invited to reflect on that same guidance as we seek to build and support healthy community on every level.

Changed

Overgrown
How is your yard? A perfect lawn can be beautiful, but achieving that usually requires various treatments, fertilizers, meticulous mowing and weeding. Many of Jesus’ parables related to agriculture and the natural world. In this three-week series, we talk about the nature of faith from the perspective of seeds, crops, weeds and invasive species. We’ll gain some perspective on the nature of life and how we manage our relationship with it all… lessons that can be applied beyond our yard to our relationships and the world around us.

How do communities and societies thrive? They’re built on many smaller commitments, investments and interactions. Christian faith speaks to the practices and perspectives needed to build and sustain life together.

We look beyond the stereotypes and assumptions to embrace the real Jesus so that we, as a community, can support and encourage one another through the privilege of serving.

Letters
God cares for us and gives us strength and encouragement, as can be seen in Paul's letters to the Ephesians and James.

Walking
Our journey in faith is like going for a walk. Sometimes we are just starting out and need support, sometimes we need to slow down and look for opportunities, and sometimes we need to remember where we are headed. But most of all we remember the care that God offers us, no matter where we are along the journey.

Create
Summer is a time of recreation, and it reminds us to engage in re-creating. Each of us needs God's creative power to stir within us and renew inspiration.
