Building God's Kingdom… The Call Continues!

It is through Building God's Kingdom (BGK) that All Saints gives support to Hospitality House, Casa Hogar Orphanage, Habitat for Humanity, Lutheran HealthCare Bangladesh and much more. The current BGK ends this June and we have started a new campaign to replenish these funds. To find out more, click on the BGK logo to open the booklet showing past outreach through BGK.

For complete information on all the outreach ministries at All Saints, please look at our Outreach Ministry Handbook.

Families in Need

Volunteers collect used furniture and household items and distribute them to families
who are in need.

Habitat for Humanity

Habitat for Humanity International is a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian organization dedicated to eliminating substandard housing and homelessness worldwide and to making adequate, affordable shelter a matter of conscience and action. Habitat is founded on the conviction that every man, woman and child should have a simple, decent, affordable place to live in dignity and safety. Mission Trips

All Saints Lutheran Church provides opportunities for congregation members and others who are interested, to participate in mission trips and other related mission programs. The Bible calls us to build the kingdom of God and to share the good news of Jesus Christ. Mission experiences are a unique way to answer this call in both word and service.

We currently offer three mission trips each year: An intergenerational spring and fall mission trip and a summer youth trip

Spring 2010 Mexico Mission Trip
March 26-April 3, 2010
All Saints Lutheran Church provides opportunities for congregation members and others to participate in mission trips and other related mission programs. Since 1997, All Saints has taken intergenerational groups to Mexico to work and share God’s love with the Mexican people. All Saints began going to Casa Hogar Elim orphanage in 2001.

Who can Participate in the Mexico Mission Trip?
• Adults (we’ve had all ages)
• Families (we recommend not bringing a child younger than ten)
• High School Students (9th – 12th grade)
• Youth (7th-8th grade) can travel with the group without a parent provided there is an adult who has agreed to be a “mission parent” for the youth on the trip.

If you are interested in being a disciple on this trip, you need to start planning now. Information and forms you will need are available through the links in the table below. Email Wendy Goda ( wgoda@allsaintsmtka.org) with questions and to receive more detailed information.

Our primary mission work in Mexico is to serve the children and staff at Casa Hogar Elim orphanage in Nuevo Laredo on the U.S./Mexico border. Here, we have shared the gospel through daily VBS activities, as well as through helping to care for the 100+ children who live there.   We have also taken over all the food purchase, preparation and clean-up duties during our time, thus giving the limited staff a break.  Additionally, we have helped with innumerable work projects over the years.  Another important component of our mission work is to serve meals and distribute needed food and supplies in some of the surrounding colonias.

Summer Youth Mission Trip. The youth take a trip each summer to perform a variety of mission tasks. Previously the youth have traveled to Yakima, Washington to serve on a Native American reservation. They have also gone to West Virginia and Minneapolis for inner city ministry.  In 2005, the Sr. High youth went to YouthWorks Mission in Ontario, Canada.  In 2007, the group headed to Alaska, again working with YouthWorks.  And then in 2008, our youth headed to an Native American community in Oklahoma.  The youth contribute in a variety of ways to God's work of encouragement and restoration in this urban setting.  Light repair and painting of homes, relationship-building, Kids Club for children, and other activities are an incredible way for youth to serve Christ by serving these neighbors.

Fall Mission Trip. Each fall, All Saints sends a team of mission servants to urban Chicago.  This intergenerational group works with the Hope Alive project which serves the Cabrini Green neighborhood to improve the living conditions of the residents there.   Our primary mission connection is with Holy Family Lutheran Church.  The usual timing of the trip is during Education Minnesota weekend (MEA) in October.

Missionary Support. All Saints provides strong support for Lutheran Health Care Bangladesh.  This ministry is alive and growing, . For more information about Bangladesh please see their web site at http://www.lhcb.org.

Other Mission Opportunities. We also offer other mission events throughout the year such as Bible study, adult forums, and/or seminars dealing with the topics of mission, social justice and advocacy. Check out the news page to find publications with the latest information about opportunities for learning and outreach at All Saints.
